Wildlife Paintings by Timm Kurtz: Art for the Sportsman and Fisherman

"One of our most resourceful
and diverse artists
...America's definitive Renaissance Man."

Relying on more than thirty years of art experience, Timm puts forth a unique flavor of diversity in his fine art and art projects...with a flare for tradition!

His art and techniques have been featured in several national publications, including Airbrush Action Magazine. He's even been caught on the pages of Guns and Ammo, taking part in Cowboy Action Shooting tournaments. Timm is no stranger to living in the rough, carrying a sidearm, fishing for dinner, existing in concert with flora and fauna.

Timm is that rare artist who has actually been there and done that in every sense of the word. One can almost smell the musty presence of the young cougar Timm has brought to life on canvas, or hear the muffled sounds of moving water as Timm's golden rainbow trout works it's way upstream in search of food. The term is presence and Timm is the expert who captures it with the dexterity of his hands creating life itself on canvas with a brush. His sense of putting you there is unbelievable!

Believing that educating the public is as important to the artist as creating good art, He will go out of his way to talk about the difficulties full time American artists face in a country where most traditional arts are being swept by the way side in lieu of technology.

"Every month a traditional art or craft is substantially changed or lost to the mass appeal of computers! By commissioning or purchasing original art or illustrations, the client helps fortify thousands of years of artistic continuity and creativity in our community. Human destiny cannot be fulfilled without the record and insight of good (non-digital) art."

Timm is an active and sought after illustrator for sports, entertainment, advertising, and outdoor related publications, and a renown muralist. His list of clients and collectors includes corporations like McDonald's, entertainers and celebrities, public schools, and city, state and parks and recreation departments. He is often invited to trade shows by exceptional product manufacturers to demonstrate techniques and give lectures.

Though he now lives with his wife and 3 sons in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina, Timm owes his interest in nature and outdoors to his early years growing up in the foothills of the majestic Colorado Rockies. His father, a talented entertainer, artist, and outdoorsman, spent many hours with his children in the bush, teaching them to shoot, hunt and fish.

"Though he'd never admit to it, my father is a true environmentalist. He taught us valuable lessons early in life about taking only what you needed, leaving things better than when you arrived, respect for nature and wildlife, and observing the beauty in all of the facets of the jewel that is mother earth."

Timm owes his art development to his mothers unconditional nurturing and his sisters integrity. "I've been fortunate in my life to have bright and talented people around me who have believed in my need to create."

"I've always felt a call towards art and expression. Since I can remember, I've had something in my hands working to build, paint, carve, or write sensations from within to suggest things outside."

The artist adheres to the notion that diversity in artistic ability is an attribute! "Who would want to drive one car their whole life? Sometimes I paint highly detailed and composed, sometimes impressionistic and on a whim.

Timm credits his high school art teacher from Aurora Central High School in Colorado, Robert Neff, for inspiration in art, and his "hero," brother Joe, afflicted with cerebral palsy since birth, for inspiration in life.

"My wife and children are my blessings and treasures. Without them, anything accomplished seems undirected and without purpose."
